All my life I have enjoyed sketching and painting. With retirement came new-found free time and the opportunity to follow my “star”. Many classes and workshops later, I find that making art continues to be my passion. I love the challenge of filling a blank space with color, form and texture, never quite knowing what the finished piece will look like until it happens! Here is a series of photos, showing the development of a recent painting. First a few collage pieces are placed and a layer of yellow transparent acrylic applied (1). Then a layer of red and some texturing are added (2.) before the image is sketched in with gesso (3). Details are added as well as more pigment to reach the final stage (4.).
